Troy's replacement, Sergeant Dan Scott arrives from London assuming that he will have an easy time of it working in a rural area. He soon begins to realise his mistake as the bloodstained body of Fiona Thompson is found in Midsomer Mallow. The circumstances point to murder and suspicion immediately falls on an odd-job man. Meanwhile Cully is busily trying to organise a reunion with her friends from school, after a gap of 10 years. Things are not as they seem and as the murders stack up Barnaby becomes increasingly concerned about Cully's safety.
